Its good to be in the shade.

Psalm 91:1
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I remember one hot summer day at the Big Bend National park when we went exploring in a canyon called "Closed Canyon."

It was SO hot we began to get a bit delirious as we were trying to make our way out to the car. All we could think about was finding the safety of shade and water.

It can be like that in our lives. We wonder off into the heat and we forget the shadow of El Shaddai (Almighty). Then we realize our lives are at risk and we run for His cover.

Looking back into that experience in the canyon it was really stupid. We could have died! We had run out of water and we started to experience heat exhaustion. I can remember the intense feeling of joy when we made it to the van and turned on the AC.

Likewise, I've found myself out of the shelter of the Most High. Its not hard to wonder off your path and all the sudden find yourself exposed to the intense heat of fear and condemnation.

Just remember, draw near to God and you will find the safety and comfort of his shade.
